MASONRY TYPES

EXTERIOR MASONRY

Allen's masons cut bricks to fit around windows, doors, and other openings. Joints are then finished for a sealed, neat, uniform appearance. Steel supports, or lintels are typically used at window and door openings. To enhance special features of a home, we may build brick arches, which support the brickwork without the lintel.

A brick house can take a terrible beating from Wisconsin weather and survive. Masonry homes, if built correctly, suffer the least overall damage during storms of any other type of conventional residential home.

Flashings and ice dam wraps need to be installed at all breaks in the masonry. This includes the bottom course of brick that rests on the foundation, around windows and doors, above brick that ends and another material continues. Water is redirected by the flashings to the exterior of the structure through regularly spaced weep holes that are open and free from excess mortar.

In contrast to the past when work slowed down in the winter months, new processes and materials are allowing masons to work in a greater variety of weather conditions.

EXTERIOR MASONRY RESTORATION SERVICES

Allen's Concrete Inc. offers restoration services ranging from repointing old joints between courses of brick and replacing damaged bricks, to complete reconstruction. Stone and brick restoration involves removing the work, carefully marking the placement of each individual piece, replacing any damaged pieces, and rebuilding the wall to it's original state.

NATURAL STONE PATIOS, WALLS, WALKWAYS

Natural quarried limestone provides an upscale, rustic feel to your patio, steps or walkway. Limestone slabs create an excellent transition from your home to your lawn and landscape by being stacked as a retaining wall, forming a border for gardens, as well as an edge for a stamped concrete patio.
